TONY Tiernan joins H&V News this week as news editor. He has spent the last five years writing news and features for Building Trades Journal. He is 27 years old and a univeristy graduate.

Robin Grayden, who has been production editor on the paper for the past three years, becomes deputy editor. He succeeds Jonathan Brind who has moved to Solid Fuel, the coal industry trade journal, as editor.

Of course I knew Tony, we worked together on the news desk at BTJ. I think he asked me about H&V News. I was pleased Robin got promoted since he was a really nice guy and was probably miffed when they gave me the post because they did not feel they could give me the editorship when Keith Sutton left (and Oliver Mcgeachy became editor). I got the SF gig probably because Alan Cork (the former editor of Solid Fuel) recommended me.
