Chiefs rude rates shock

OBSCENE telephone callers have been plaguing a council leader after rates were raised by 62 per cent.

Neil Gerrard's home phone number was printed in a leaflet issued by anonymous members of the Friends of Waltham Forest. It urged ratepayers to ring Mr Gerrard and complain about the rates rise.

The leaflet accused Mr Gerrard and his "loony Left" colleagues of bringing Waltham Forest to its knees. The rate increase may now be challenged in the High Court following the formation of Waltham Forest Ratepayers Action Group. Last night, protestors lobbied a council meeting.

Neil Gerrard: Unwanted calls.
