Paul Mabbott
Paul Mabbott was someone I knew independently from the NUJ, in Leyton Labour Party. He was part of a small coterie of super activists (people who would actually put in some work at constituency level) including (at the time) George Saville and John Pridige. When I first met Paul he was a lab technician at Whipps Cross Hospital. Then he decided to give all that up and studied entomology (he had a wonderful collection of pinned beetles). At about the same time he married Judith and they set about raising a family. I think they had two kids. In 1994 he was nearly expelled from the Labour Party over the Leyton Relief Road. He was clearly extremely clever and highly educated. The Mabbotts moved to Sheffield, I think. |
