1964 Entry Group I attended the reunion on 2nd July 1994 and was disappointed that only three other pupils from my year were present. I am sure that this was because so many people have moved away from the area and would not have seen the advertisement in the local newspaper. And those who live locally and did see the ad were probably shy about coming along in case they were the only one present from the year. I knew that I would be able to contact a fairly large number of people so I decided to join the Past Pupils Association. Using the 1964 entry address list, I was able to check if any parents still lived at the same place. I work for The Local Council and have access to the Register of Electors and telephone directories were also useful.. The friend of a friend syndrome was helpful too - most people have kept in touch with one or two others from school (or at least know of their whereabouts) and I relied heavily on this. So far I have managed to contact over 50 former pupils from our year, most of whom have expressed an interest in attending the reunion on 10th June. Tickets are now available for the Reunion, cost £4.50 per head this includes buffet and wine. Please send me a SAE with a cheque made payable to "Sir Frederic Osborn School" if you wish to attend. As some of you may be coming from a great distance, it has been suggested that we also meet at' lunch-time in one of the Tewin pubs, perhaps The Plume of Feathers would be suitable. Please let me know if you are interested in this in order that I can make any necessary arrangements ' These are the people I have been in-touch with or had news of. In many cases I forgot to ask them what they are doing now, but where I have the information I have included it.

Sir Frederic Osborn School Past Pupils' Association NEWSLETTER The idea of forming a Past Pupils' Association has been around for a long time- many people made wild promises to keep in touch with "old" friends when they met informally from time to time - but the real work began soon after the Silver Jubilee celebrations in July 1993. I arranged a couple of meetings with the headteacher, Mr. John Downes and we agreed in principle the aims of the Association and how we could move forward, By September I had enlisted the help of a small nucleus of interested people and we began planning the First Grand Reunion for the summer of 1994. At the same time we also agreed to assist the school by putting all the archive records of pupils onto the school's data network. This is been achieved by several Saturday morning working sessions, and I would like to take this opportunity of thanking all those dedicated typists (and non-typists!) for their stoic efforts. During the next few months the Committee worked hard, contacting friends and colleagues and the whole project began to take off. It was interesting to see the "ripple" effect in action, as one phonecall triggered off others which in turn brought other people into the equation. It was really exciting to talk to people I hadn't seen or heard from for nearly thirty years. The Reunion on July 2nd. was a great success. Despite a few teething problems, we were delighted that nearly two hundred people attended. The school buildings were open and a group of current 6th.Formers acted as guides to take parties around the site and introduce us to the Fitness Suite/ I.T. centre and Technology base! The Committee met again at the beginning of this school year and we are already a long way into the planning of a second Reunion evening to be held on Saturday June 10th.1995. The format for the evening- will be very much along the lines of the last event and tickets will be on sale early in the new year. (Please see contact details at the end of the newsletter) A number of people have volunteered to act as Year Leaders and they are working hard to "round up" names and current addresses in an attempt to widen the network even further.
If you would like to be put in contact with former colleagues please write to me (s.a.e. appreciated) or telephone and I will do my best to deal with your enquiry speedily. There are a number of years that have not been covered as yet, so if you would-like to help out., please do not hesitate to contact one of the committee members to obtain further details.
