Adelaide

We were very struck by the Jacaranda trees which were in blossom when we reached Adelaide, though they were just as beautiful in Perth.
Street art in all the parts of Australia we visited was very good. This pig was pictured in Adelaide.
We stayed at what used to be a women's hostel run by the Salvation Army (or the Salvos, as they are called in Australia). This had been taken over and become a backpackers hostel, the East Park Lodge (www.eastparklodge.com.au). It was incredibly cheap (about £20 a night for the two of us), offering German, French & Japanese speaking, internet connection, a free sauna and swimming pool and a launderette. When we got there they asked if we were members of a thing called VIP. If we had been members we could have had the room cheaper!
