We stayed at what used to be a women's hostel run by the Salvation Army (or the Salvos, as they are called in Australia). This had been taken over and become a backpackers hostel, the East Park Lodge (www.eastparklodge.com.au). It was incredibly cheap (about £20 a night for the two of us), offering German, French & Japanese speaking, internet connection, a free sauna and swimming pool and a launderette. When we got there they asked if we were members of a thing called VIP. If we had been members we could have had the room cheaper! |
