School reunion reaches across the world, Welwyn Times October 30, 2007 OLD pupils from a secondary school travelled from across the globe to remember their days as pupils. More than 30 people attended the reunion for old boys and girls who went to what is now Sir Frederic Osborn School in WGC from 1964. Former students travelled from some far-flung places, including Spain, the United States and Canada, to meet at the Fairway Tavern in WGC. In their time the Herns Lane school was called WGC High School. One highlight was the presence of English and history teacher Sybil Marcus, who came from San Francisco. Sally Fitz-Gibbon (nee Hards) came from Canada, Andy Machen came from Spain and Jennet Treharne and Hilary Shepherd (nee Evans) travelled from Wales. And not even the Rugby World Cup final last Saturday could stop the former classmates from catching up on old times. Diane Hillyer, a former pupil, said: "The reunion was very successful and enjoyed by all - despite the fact that it had to compete with the rugby. "But the reunion won the day as many of us were still talking in the bar at 12.30am when the manager had to ask us to leave so that the cleaners could come in! | ||
