Went to the Edinburgh fringe press office to get accreditation but mainly to see if there were any freebies. The queue was so long I gave up. In the Royal Mile a young woman wearing the brilliant green street coat of power beloved by minor officials accosted me, asking if I had a press pass. I showed her my NUJ card, but that wasn't enough. She pretended to radio her base, conducting a conversation intended to make me believe that I was being summoned to base. When I said I wasn't going she said: 'OH, OK you're all right then.' I'd like to say it was the best acting I'd seen in Edinburgh but it was unconvincing and failed to hold my attention. | ||
