Continued.
Merlyn and Alan got a small flat in West Norwood and had two children, Jonathan and Simon, before they got a council flat at Moreton House. Mandy was born here.
Alan got a job working for Chelsea Flour Mills in St Paul's Way, Bow, and the family moved above the shop, where Chris was born. At the time the Bow Bells had just started ringing again (they were silenced during the war), so Chris was one of the first genuine cockneys. The factory was relocated to Hertfordshire so the family moved to Ware, birth place of their final child Lindsay. |
