More about Charlie
Charlie came to stay with us in December 2000. He used to live with Bill & Maureen Measure but they had too many cats, so we took him on. We only agreed to have him live with us because Charlie has FIV, the cat equivalent of HIV. He shouldn't leave the flat (he could infect other cats) and it would be cruel to keep a cat locked into a place like our flat if it was a free roaming cat. We live in a first floor flat and it would be very difficult to find a way to let a cat get in and out at will.
Charlie's main job is mousing. This he does by smelling like a cat and so persuading sensible rodents that our flat is not a great place in which to live. Just occasionally, especially in the early days when he first lived here, he catches a mouse, usually a young one.
