So it's going to take 20 years to build a railway to Manchester and Sheffield. In the 1840s 5,000 miles of railway was built in Britain, by navvies using picks and shovels. While Britain takes its time China is planning to building a high speed rail link across Turkey, completing a route from the Far East to Europe.
