You imagine that the oldest objects at the British Museum will be Egyptian or Chinese but they are not. The oldest human artefact at the British Museum is actually from England and unfathomably older than anything from those other ancient civilisations. This axe head (or spear head) is 400,000 years old and so was probably created by creatures who stretch the definition of humanity: Neanderthals.	Click for next image.
