Years ago I came up with a strategy that I would sell my flat and move out of London, hopefully finding something like a two up two down somewhere I could buy without needing a mortgage. After many, many (far too many) false leads and disappointments I have today exchanged contracts on pretty much the ideal house I was looking for in Chatham, Kent, and it will be legally mine on Monday. Boy has this process been stressful. But it will soon be over.
