This strange photo was taken just outside Sheerness, a place I visited yesterday. It was like walking into the film Bad Day at Black Rock. Within a few minutes of arriving there Nick Levinge who stayed in my spare room for a couple of days, was threatened with violence by a naked man leaning out of a window as a woman cowered in the back of the room. Nick had been intrigued by the architecture, a sort of decayed seaside elegance, and was taking photos of the buildings. Unfortunately, the fashion in the area seems to be not to bother with net curtains so inside the room, where evidently some sort of private pursuit was taking place unbeknownst to us, pointing a camera at the building was seen as provocative. After that the town never quite managed to please us. The fire, appeared to be in a very large, fairly modern Dutch barn style agricultural building. The fire brigade didn't seem to bother turning up and it is difficult to see what they could have done if they had been there since the fire was enormous and appeared to be a very long way from any water supply.
