Sudden rapid warming, El Nino perhaps?
Since about 1998 global termperatures have been steady as a rock. Hot, by historical standards, but basically unchanging.

While the media was full of stories about global warming there was none. All that has changed this year. Suddenly temperatures have started to rocket up to unknown highs.

Quite clearly this cannot be related to carbon in the atmosphere since this has been rising steadily over the last two decades with no sign of temperature increase.

Since we have no idea what is causing it we have no means to control it, even if there were a political will to do so. Should the temperature continue to go up at current rates (which is pretty unlikely) the planet may be more or less unhabitable in a couple of decades or so.

In the film about nuclear holocaust Dr Srangelove they took to the mine shafts at the end. What a pity Thatcher closed most of the mines in Britain. See less
