Savagery and carnage on an industrial scale
Listening to the Today programme on Radio 4 this morning; the appalling suffering and carnage meted out on the Afghan and Syrian refugees, made me feel almost uncontrollably angry towards Bush and Blair, the two lunatics who by starting illegal wars created this terrible catastrophe.

It needs to be said time and time again that there were no weapons of mass destruction (except possibly in Iran and North Korea, countries they did not attack).

There were no Islamic extremists in Iraq, a country which had a largely secular regime. There are now; just as there are in half a dozen countries (notably Yemen) whose populations were enraged by seeing American troops mounting combat missions in the Middle East.

In Afghanistan the Taliban, which under the guise of the People's Mujahideen, had been supported, funded and Armed by the Americans to defeat the Russians who fought a long, bloody war in Afghanistan; ran the country.

The Mujahideen were barbaric and uncivilized. But nothing like what's going on there now.

All these years later the tragedy continues to unfold and there is no end in sight.
