In the Post Office there was a man barking like a dog but conversing perfectly normally with the staff. It was as if he was doing some kind of weird stage act. At the pool a woman was having a ferocious argument with herself while swimming in the most extraordinary and ridiculous way. I think we are all being pushed too hard. In Dickens the old people (i.e. those aged more than about 40) had bodies which were breaking down. Today it's our minds. We need to be kinder to ourselves. | ||
