The long haul
Pet shops against the lockdown.
People are starting to understand that we are in for the long haul. If things play out the way they did in the dog days of the First World War, when something like 500 million people fell Ill due to a flu virus, then expect two more years of this and more than 2 billion cases worldwide.

If someone successfully creates a vaccine then it might be over by next summer or more likely next winter. So far, so bad; but that will not be the end of the story.

We now live in a highly interconnected world and any new disease has the potential to get right round the world before anyone notices it.

If we learn anything from the virus it is that no matter how costly preparedness for a pandemic might be, it is going to be much cheaper than the disease.

Oh and we also learn that there are 250,000 reasons for not voting for Trump. The corpses of the American virus victims.
