Dennis Coghlan Dennis Coghlan worked on H&V News when I was there. I can't remember what he did but he was probably a reporter. He was an erudite, highly educated man; probably self taught. He spent his lunch hours in the pub drinking Guinness and reading the Times.	click for next image.
He was a character, who was probably better at deflating the egoes of upstarts like myself than he was about boasting about his own accomplishments. I'm sure he had many but I'm blessed if I can remember them. When he died Scouse (Barry Lynn) paid for some masses to be said in his honour, only to be told rather surprisingly, that Dennis came from protestant stock. Dennis would have enjoyed that, though not as much as he enjoyed the Guinness.
