Just been to see Joachim Trier's film The Worst Person in the World courtesy of Rochester Film Society and boy was that a roller coaster ride. It's about an artist whose only claim to fame appears to be producing a comic strip called Bobcat.
Bobcat, in my view, is a thinly disguised version of the anarchist cartoon strip Wildcat. Now I know about Wildcat because the artist, Donald Rooum, claimed he based it on Katy Andrews, the last person I lived with, and if you knew Katy you wouldn't doubt it. Then there was an extended scene in the film based on the Magic Boomerang, which my friend Keith Williams, claimed he scripted (though whether he wrote all The Magic Boomerang episodes or just some, I can't remember). Strange, strange night. Perhaps it's time for me to leave Medway... |
