Hackers try to alter 1987
I had been hopeful that I would be left alone in Cumbria not least because I am a long way from the centres of power and I have no political contacts up here, if I had any anywhere. But apparently not.
Today I have been working on integrating an archive of files I have from 1987 with what I call my blog, but really a kind of date categorised web site. You would think this mildly eccentric project would not excite the interests of anyone. But you would be wrong. I use a reasonably new (two or three years old?) Lenovo desktop running Linux. I have physically removed the wifi system in the machine and turned off my modem. The machine says it does not have Bluetooth. I change my password once a day. I use one of the Linux plain text editors since I do not trust the standard html editors like Bluefish. Yet mysteriously, I can see text being deleted from my work that I have not edited in any way. When I go back to the version in the browser, copy the original text and put into the text version I am working on, it gets edited again. Clearly someone wants me to know I am being hacked.
