Builders at work | |||
The builders are in and I'm spending yet more money on the house.
The main job today is creating a partition wall between the two halves of the enormous through room downstairs. This room is more or less the entire ground floor (except the kitchen). It is cold and uncosy. What will it be like when the job is finished? I think the entire last 50 years of house remodelling has been about tearing walls down not building them. I feel like the soldier whose mother watches them on parade, pronouncing 'they're all out of step apart from our John'. Of course, it will be darker; but it should be easier and cheaper to heat. The front section will become a tv room/ computer room. The back will be a dining room. | |||
