BBC forecasting makes astrology look respectable
So the British economy is not in recession after all. The forecasts were wrong despite being hyped by naive and badly informed bodies like the BBC. At moments like this we do well to remember the words of the economist John Kenneth Galbraith: "The only function of economic forecasting is to make astrology look respectable."
