The end of (several) Titannic struggles
I have given up using my Titan security key. It seemed like a brilliant idea. I hate passwords because someone can enter my computer over the Internet and if they know my password they can take control of the computer.
The security key seemed like a physical thing, not the sort of thing that would be possible to hack. But it didn't turn out like that. I never once managed to activate my Google account without using a password. I know it is supposed to be possible. I tried it. It didn't work for me. OK so the security key was just another hurdle to using my computer. But I could cope with it. Not this week. For a few days I have been trying to use the computers at the library. But it has proved impossible to activate my Google account because the key flashes a couple of times (or perhaps only once) and then stops. This makes it impossible to activate Google. I move the key from USB port to USB port and each time the same thing happens. If I put the key into one of the ports I have used before it doesn't even flash once. So I have given up. Beaten.
