New phone hacked while it is turned off | |||
In a couple of days time I'm going to Eastbourne to see some friends. I don't know exactly where they will be. They don't come from the town either.
So it would be really handy to have a phone so I could contact them when I arrive. My mobile phone is useless because it has been hacked to death. It simply doesn't work. I bought what is called a burner phone, a dumb phone, and put the sim from my smart phone in it, so I could retain my phone number. I've only used this phone at most a couple of times, when bloody Mac or Google wanted to confirm my identity. These people steadfastly demand to use my smart phone number. My general impression of the burner phone was that I was impressed. Usually I can hardly hear my phone. I am a little bit deaf. The burner phone was, if anything too loud. But I'm getting off the subject. I charged the phone and put it in an outhouse in a metal box. I made absolutely sure that the phone was off and unable to receive any calls. Today Google insisted on me receiving a call from them to confirm my identity, even though they have confirmed it a hundred times before. So I went into the outhouse, opened the box and somehow the phone had switched itself on and the battery was almost flat. There was a red warning sign at the top of the screen. I am not optimistic that I will be able to phone my friends or they will be able to phone me. Eastbourne could turn out to be an adventure. But the point is that you may think I have done something terribly villainous in order to have this level of "surveillance". But it has been going on for years and if I had done anything wrong, by now they would have the evidence to take me to court; to charge me with some offence. They do not because I am a law abiding citizen. It's boring but it's true. And if they believed that I would have committed a crime had I not realised they were on my case, then the appropriate thing to do would be to become invisible. To continue the surveillance but without letting me know they were there. They do not because they are perfectly well aware that I am no criminal (they have been closely watching me for years) and what they are doing is not surveillance but extra judicial punishment, amounting to torture. |
