Sweeping statements | |||
I'd been thinking about posting on the netting above the Wetherspoons garden in Barrow in Furness. The idea is obvious. To keep the seagulls out (stop them from eating the food).
But it gives the claustrophobic impression of being in one of those black and white Film Noir movies. Casablanca, perhaps. Alternatively you could think of yourself as being in a cage rather like the penguins in a zoo. It seemed unusual and I was wondering if there were any other netted pub gardens. Could Barrow be unique? Well, of course it could, but unique for netting? |

Well it turned out that this would have been a sweeping statement since when I had breakfast at one of the Wetherspoons in Eastbourne (there are two) I discovered that there was netting there too. It may be all to do with the prevalence of seagulls. | |||
