From Facebook | In 2000 I flew over Italy and mainland Greece ( with the aid of a plane) and saw much of the country below in flames, including huge, out of control, forest fires. One headline was Europe's heatwave death toll hits 100. This was more than 20 years ago.
"In Turkey, where at least 11 people have died as a result of the heat, temperatures are hovering around 43C (109 F). Eight died overnight of heart attacks triggered by the heat after temperatures reached 48C (118.4F). Three died of brain haemorrhages. In Romania, five people have died of heart attacks and strokes, bringing weather- related deaths there last week to 14." The most telling thing is Facebook's comment 'Page not found' but if you hit the link, mysteriously the page is there. |
