I applied for a job a couple of days ago. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get it because I don't believe the people I sent it to, Big Brother Watch, actually got the application (even though I sent it from both my Fasthosts and Gmail accounts). This is what I wrote: Research and Investigations Volunteers From Jonathan Brind To recruitment@bigbrotherwatch.org.uk on 2023-09-04 23:04 I would like to apply for one of your Research and Investigations Volunteers positions, probably on a job share basis since I live in Cumberland and can not take a full time role based in London. I am a former Labour Councillor for the London Borough of Waltham Forest (chair of planning for several years etc.). I left the Labour Party when the new leadership started to expel the Left and am now a member of the Green Party. I have extensive experience of local government and the public sector. Among other roles I was a Mental Health Manager and a member of a District Health Authority, when such bodies existed. I took a National Council for Trainee Journalists apprenticeship at a newspaper group in north east London and as part of this course studied (among other things) journalistic law at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston. I have worked for about a dozen different regional newspapers and edited several business to business publications. As a shorthand writer I was often sent to cover courts and when I was editing magazines I taught junior journalists shorthand. I am prepared to travel to London at my own expense in order to work in your office reasonably frequently. I do not require a salary as I own my house and am a pensioner. I hope it goes almost without saying that I am passionately committed to freedom of speech, protecting privacy and civil liberties. Jonathan Brind 079149 76706 01229 776226 |
