Most of these photos are about my failed attempt to reach Seathwaite.

The photos on the Coniston Road show the mad traffic trying to get vehicles that were never designed to travel on such a small road, past each other. The slate offcuts piles are quite remarkable and genuinely huge. Why hasn't someone cut the slate into small pieces suitable for using for paths? These heaps are not natural, even though they may have been there a long time. The entrance to the cave or mine or whatever it is was quite interesting since you got a blast of cold air if you stood there, very welcome on a warm day like today.

I blame global warming.
