When I got married we did it for a few pence. The main expenditure was the certificate. My former wife's sisters did the catering and my parents in law thoughtfully bought us two tickets to an exceedingly dreadful play called Gloo Joo (or something like that) so we could throw everyone out of our flat (where we held the reception) early, without feeling too bad about it.

Things are not done like this today. Sydney's botanical gardens is a very popular place for up market (and incredibly expensive) weddings and seems to attract those who have the means, from far and wide.

This couple had not just a photographer but a whole team dedicated to preserving the memory, though if I had been them the hole in my bank balance would have done it.

The photo team included a light screen holder. You can just about see the team in the shadows. The screen holder's job is to reflect pallid light onto the photo subject. In Sydney the light is rarely pallid so it was not much of a job.

Behind the happy couple you can see one of a row of gigantic military ships, probably the Australian navy.
