Click for next image		Sydney's Kings Cross is supposed to be the vice centre of the town, and maybe it is. You can certainly see evidence of it, if you are looking for it. But on top of the sleaze there is a large collection of backpacker hotels. If you want a bed for the night, this is the place to come. In addition there are vast numbers of restaurants, cafes and coffee bars. There seem to be more homeless people, more street people than elsewhere and the St John's has set up a networking centre for the disadvantaged. The English writer George Orwell (otherwise known as Eric Blair) is commemorated by Orwell Street. Perhaps there should be a new version of his book: Down and Out in London, Paris and Sydney?
