The rather elegant building is a public lavatory. The loos in Sydney have been a theme of these posts, usually because I am bowled over by (a) how good they are and (b) how many there are. This loo is in a far better building than any I have ever lived in.

But I have to admit not all the loos come up to this standard, or at least the loo going experience is not always salubrious. When one electronically controlled entrance loo door opened a guy came out with his trousers round his knees explaining that he was unable to lock the door. I made my excuses and went in search of a better quality offering.

But life is more than public lavatories and today I went to Manly where the beach was allegedly closed because the current was dangerous. Most people took this to mean that surfing was off the agenda and continued to use the actually sand.

The surf itself looked mean and nasty. I can't surf myself but had I decided to learn this was probably not the place to do it.

But there were all sorts of activities going on including beach volleyball (there were about half a dozen "courts") and the usual fashion parades.

Not everyone wants to get a tan but the Chinese girl who was extremely well wrapped, looked quite splendid. She had a look at the photos I took and told me she would tell her dad to contact me so I could send her some.

She photographed me and she has my card, so I am expecting to hear more.
