Here's an interesting idea. Who knows it might happen? The legal action barring Trump from standing in the primaries in Colorado may have unexpected results.
The Colorado judgement (which will be appealed) is based on Civil War era legislation banning insurrectionists from standing for office. It was held that Trump's actions during the hand over of power to Sleepy Joe (Biden) qualified as insurrection. If successful, this type of legal action could eventually keep Trump off the presidential ballot, even if he is selected by the Republicans. But the Trump name could still appear if a daughter took his place. In 2008 Putin was unable to stand as president since he had served two consecutive terms already. What happened was that First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, took the job while Putin retained the reins of power as Prime Minister. From Trump's point of view the advantage might be that there would be the prospect of eight more years of a Trump presidency. | ||
