INDEX | January 12, 2024 | The secrets of the Dead Letter Drop | |
When secret documents were discovered in the Gents loo at what is known locally as The Dead Letter Drop, the Wetherspoons pub in Barrow, it was all over the media like a rash.
Google it and you will find more than a dozen prime media (BBC, Sky etc.) reporting on the extraordinary lapse in security at the nearby Barrow shipyard. An inquiry was set up and I expected it to be the usual whitewash. But maybe it wasn't. The results have been published but according to the search engine I use, only in the local paper in Barrow. I get a feed from the Barrow newspaper and up till now I have been able to click on stories and read the gyst of them. Not any more! Now I have to take out an annual sub for about £100. I wonder why? My curiousity is not sufficient to make me pay that much to find out what was said. |
