Freedom of speech, privacy under attack again
The owner of Telegram, the favoured messaging platform used by investigative journalists and others who need to stop the authorities monitoring what they are doing, seems to have been arrested in France. Well Elon Musk says he has so it must be true.

Pavel Durov, a Russian born billionaire, was praised in 2014 when he refused to censor critics of the Kremlin on his VK social media.

Based in Dubai (and a UAE citizen) Durov also has French citizenship. He is alleged to have been arrested when he flew into Le Bourget airport, Paris, from Azerbaijan.

A report in Yahoo suggested the issue was a lack of moderators on Telegram, which in addition to providing messaging services is also a kind of social media. More ominously Yahoo added that another issue was a failure to co-operate with French police.
