Bomb

(14/Mar/2012)
Discovery of a Second World War bomb briefly stopped work. Porters Field is not marsh like and is at a raised level because a huge amount of debris was tipped there immediately after the war. This was mostly the remainder of houses that had been destroyed but there were probably a few unexploded bombs amongst the rubble. People were more casual about such things in the 1940s. A spokesman for the Olympic Delivery Authority told the local paper "A routine scan of the site in early February detected metal underground and because of this, an ordnance expert was appointed to oversee the start of works." An extraordinary statement. Apparently ODA knows there is more metalwork down there but is not bothered if the odd device goes off some time in the future. Here's predicting legal action against the ODA if at some time in the future there's an explosion and a dog, or perhaps a child, is injured or even killed.
