Common Comfrey

The marsh contains a great number of comfrey plants, mainly Common Comfrey (Symphytum officinale) and Russian Comfrey. Both plants are quite variable. Although Common Comfrey mostly has off-white flowers, they can also be purple. Similarly, Russian Comfrey can have pale flowers. One of the most obvious differences between the two plants is the way the stem has continuous ridges from one leaf branch to the next. Click link to see complete plant.
