| In August 2014 stories began to circulate about a ten storey hotel to be built on the site of the Greyhound, retaining only the pub's iconic façade. This was not the first time there had been rumours that a cheap hotel would be built in the area, click this link to see more However, this time the close proximity of Lea Bridge Station, allegedly about to be re-opened, made the scheme seem much more plausible since it would not involve LVRPA, a body much better known for its cock ups than its commercial successes.
