Hindu statue

                                                                     (21/Nov/2010)
This large Hindu ceramic mysteriously appeared in the Flood Relief Channel (close to Coppermill Lane bridge) some time around November 21, 2010, and then disappeared again about five days later.

Hinduism seems to be very complex and the writer of this web site knows little about it. However, the ceramic appears to show three avatars (identities) of Shiva. The other two may be Natraja (to the left) and Hanuman (to the right). They are standing on a cobra and the background is a mat of peacock feathers. Shaivism (the followers of Shiva not Bernard Shaw!) is one of the three main traditions of Hinduism.
