Camp site? | |||
According to the Waltham Forest Guardian the Leyton Marsh golf course is to become a camping site during the Olympics. For those who don't know it, the course is something between a pitch and putt and a real golf course. It is situated between Lammas Road and Orient Way. It can be reached by crossing the bridge at the end of Marsh Lane. The local paper predicts it will be used to house Olympic workers during the event. So much for jobs for locals. New Lammas Lands Defence Committee (NLLDC) believes LVRPA has been running this facility at a loss and wants to close it. See this link. This is yet another example of sport suffering while all the money goes to the Olympics (Bully Point cycle track, Ive Farm etc. etc.). http://www.guardian-series.co.uk/news/9231631.LEYTON__Olympic_campsite_planned_for_Waterworks/?ref=eb See also NLLDC on this subject. This is the second venue to be identified as a potential camp site. Low Hall Fields has already been earmarked. Considering the looting and rioting in summer 2011 is bound to reduce the number of visitors, will both these venues be required? | |||
