Water Mint (Mentha aquatica) herbaceous perennial plant growing to 90 centimetres tall. Lots of this grows in the wetter parts of the North Marsh. Lovely clear minty smell, when plant leaves bruised. The stems are square in cross section, green or purple, and variably hairy to almost hairless. Water Mint flowers are tiny, densely crowded, purple, tubular, pinkish to lilac in colour. Water Mint is pollinated by insects, and also spreads by underground rhizomes. Click to see plant.
