According to the local paper the Walthamstow Wetlands project is to be scaled back. It was always clear that there were massive holes in the funding.
The wetlands project, first mooted in 2011, was basically about giving access to the reservoirs between the Blackhorse Road area and Tottenham
Only £364,000 of the £10m required has been obtained so the budget has been slash to £6.5million.
Discussion are continuing with the Heritage Lottery Fund in a bid to salvage something from the process, but it looks like much of the money already available will be spent on consultants reports.
One of the issues is the exhibition space. LVRPA already has a white elephant exhibition area called the Waterworks Centre and it was always hard to see a justification for yet another one.
