Cousins

Children with a common grandparent are first cousins. Children with a common gt grandparent are second cousins - so the degree of cousinship is always one more than the number of greats to the common ancestor.

That's fine if the two people in question are of the same generation; otherwise you can count down to the lowest shared generation counting one more removed for each further generation down.
