Note 1. The Chancery equivalent document (PRO ref: C142/132/28) is in poor repair, the right side (to the length of up to about 3 words) being absent. A check of the document shows that, other than minor variants such as the spelling of surnames and place-names, the substance as above appears the same so far as the surviving part is concerned, but names of jurors are given. Not all of these are fully legible, but included in William Brynde. A copy appears to have been sent to the court of wards. The subject is described in the write as John Brinde gentleman.

2. This abstract does not include the details of those from who the lands were held, or the value per year of those lands, but it is noted that the messuage here called Burgis and the 2 virgates of land in Marston were held of Thomas Brind gent. as of his manor of Staunton Fitzwaren (cf. the IPM of Thomas Brynde taken 1 Eliz). This Thomas Brind, who appears after the first mention of the heir Thomas Brind, is not given as aforesaid.

* thus, although in the similar list in the IPM of John Brinde several years earlier, 400 acres.

** or Hellrous (letters n and u being identical in both documents).
