DOC7. (280/15). April 3, 1693 John Greene (cordwainer) of Stratton St Margaretts, Wilts, agrees to sell the malthouse in Westrop, Highworth, to Henry Brind of Highworth, Innholder, for a year.

The price is 5s plus a peppercorn.

This indenture made the third day of April in the fifth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord and Lady William
and Mary by the grant of God of England Scotland France and ireland King and Queen Defender of the faith Anno Dom. 1693 BE-
TWEEN
John Greene of Stratton St Margaretts in the County of Wilts Cordwainer eldest son of Ambrose Greene late of Westrop in
the parish of Highworth in the said County of Wilts maltster deceased of the one part and Henry Brind of Highworth aforesaid Innholder
of the other part WITNESSETH that the said John Greene as well for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings of lawful
money of England to him in hand paid at or before the ensealing and delivery hereof by the said Henry Brind as also for other
considerations ann. the said John Greene in this behalf especially moving HATH granted bargained and sold and by these presents
DOTH grant bargain and sell unto the said Henry Brind his executors administrators and assignees ALL that messuage tenement or
dwelling house with the malthouse and other houses thereunto belonging situate lying and being in Westrop in the parish of Highworth
aforesaid in the said County of Wilts and all those two yards of arable land lying and being in the fields of Westrop aforesaid shooting upon
the said messuage or tenement and thereunto belonging and all and every the barns stables out houses gardens orchards .............
.... ways waters watercourses easements rights members profits commodities advantages hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever
to the said messuage or tenement arable land and premises or any of them belonging or in any wise appertaining all which said
messuage or tenement and malthouse arable lands and premises now are or late were in the demesne or occupation of the said John
Greene or of his tenants or assignees and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents and profits of all and
singular the said premises and of every part and parcel thereof TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said messuage or tenement or
dwelling house malthouse lands and premises hereby granted bargained and sold or meant mentioned or intended to be hereby granted
bargained and sold and every part and parcel thereof with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said Henry Brind his executors
administrators and assignees from the day next before the date hereof unto the end and term and for and during the full time and term
of one whole year from thence next ensuing and fully to be complete and ended YIELDING AND SAYING therefore unto the said
John Greene his heirs or assignees the rent of one peppercorn at the feast of St Michael the Archangel only if the same shall be lawfully
demanded AND LASTLY it is hereby declared and agreed by and between the said parties to these presents that this present bargain
and sale is for made and taken to the end and ....by virtue hereof and of the statute ffortran ffearing of uses into
possession he the said Henry Brind may be in the .....of the said may be enabled to accept and take a
grant and release of the inheritance and ....premises to him the said Henry Brind his heirs and assignees
for ever IN WITNESS whereof the said ....have set their hand and sealed the day and year first above written
