The last will and testament of Mary Brind of Cricklade in the County of Wilts widow being of sounds and well disposing mind memory and understanding is as followeth Whereas I the said Mary Brind am the sole purchaser of a parcel of land called Leeks Bed situate in Little Hinton in the County of Wilts and held under the Dean & Chapter of Winchester for the lives of my Daughter Elizabeth (now wife of William Jacob of Cricklade Barber) my son in law John Brunsdon the older and his son John Brunsden as is and by the copy of court rolls may and doth appear AND WHEREAS I did on the day of the date next before these presents surrender into the Lords Hands all my Estate and interest of in and to the premises af{ore}s{ai}d with the appurtenances to the use and behoof of such person and persons and for such estate and estates and subject to such conditions discretions limitations and appointments as I shall be my last will and testament duly executed give devise and direct limit and appoint NOW I do by virtue of the said surrender and according to the power in and by the same in me vested give and devise the said estate to my daughter Elizabeth Jacob aforesaid the heir executor or administration (exclusive of her said husband William Jacob) subject nevertheless to the payment of the sum of ten pounds to my grandson Richard Brunsden the like sum of ten pounds to my grand daughter Phillis Brunsden and ten pounds to my grandson John Brunsden; the legacies to be paid within twelve months after my decease to such of them as shall be of the age of Twenty one years; otherwise when they shall arrive at that age, also I give to my son in law John Brunsden, aforesaid, the sum of twenty pounds, provided he shall peacably and quietly give up the possession of the freehold House Barn Close and orchard he occupies and the before mentioned ground called Leeks Bed when thereto required by me, my aforesaid Daughter Elizabeth Her Executors or administrators or any other person by me her or them to require the same; without committing any waster(?) trespass in defacing or any ways damaging the premises or any part thereof My will and meaning is that in case the said John Brunsden the older person abetted or authorised by him shall refuse to give up the possession of the aforesaid premises when required or commit any waster(?) or any ways damage the said buildings or any other the premises aforesaid that then he shall be utterly excluded from the aforesaid legacy and all other benefits and advantages intended him by this will I also give devise and bequeath unto my aforesaid daughter Elizabeth Jacob all my freehold houses barn garden orchard close with their and every of their appurtenance situate and lying and being in Wanborough aforesaid in the occupation of the af{ore}s{ai}d John Brunsden William Morse & Thomas Brind To hold to her and her heirs for ever exclusive of her said Husband, subject nevertheless charged and chargeable with the payment of the sum of thirty pounds to my daughter Ann the wife of John Long of Wanborough af{ore}s{ai}d Cordwainer (exclusive of her said husband) and also sum of one shilling apiece to my son in law John Brunsden and his three before mentioned children. And my will and meaning is that my daughter Elizabeth may sell the before mentioned premises both copyhold and freehold as soon after my decease as to her shall seem meet and convenient AND lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my aforesaid daughter Elizabeth Jacob full and sole executrix to this my present last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made I WITNESS Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twentieth day of May in the nineteenth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third over Great Britain &c and so forth and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy nine (1779).

At Cricklade on the 25th of May 1780 the sole executor was duly sworn before me S Campbell Surrogate
