I have been to Devizes and enclose some data which I hope is of some value to you. In the Monumental Inscription Books the church stones are listed between 1717-1777 at Wanborough. Liddington I did not see. Highworth + Circkland ????. I did notice that at Highworth there was a family called Darby so perhaps the NZ Gold Brinds mother was a Highworth Darby?

The WAM (Wilts Archaeological Magazine) info was a follows:

R. Vol XLVIII 1696 Richard Brind was a chorister and/or scholar af a school in Salisbury Close.

J. Vol XLV John's will listed 1634 (we have it)

Vol VI (not V) Murder of Thomas Brind 1577 noted.

Survey of the Manor & Forest of Clatendon -- nil for us. Letter from William Hensley could not be found, but Mrs Haycock said that there was nothing it it for us.

I did not look in the Visitation Books (1826)

From the attached notes on the Hungerfords it looks as if we could have been linked to the fortunes of that family over a considerable period (to follow)

Yours

David
