Dear Mr Brind

I have been researching my grandmothers family on my paternal side and I was wondering whether the following is of any relevance to you?

My great Grandfather's name was Alfred Brind born 1908 (we think in Canada) and his wife's name was Kathleen (Joyce) Wickens (d.2005). Alfred's father William brind and his first wife, Louisa Clements, moved to Canada to work on the railways and they had 4 sons, Alfred and his brothers Harry, Frank and Jack whilst they were in Canada and then, after Louisa died, he remarried to a Jane Parsons and they moved to Brighton with Louisa's children and their son Leslie.

I do not know what happened after that only Alfred met my great grandmother and married and had 3 daughters.

Williams Father was John Brind and his mother (we think) was an Elizabeth Smale.

I hope this is relevant to you and any information you may have would be greatly received both by me and my grandmother.

Kind Regards

Miss Caron Mole

Thanks for your email. There have been quite a lot of William and John Brinds so you have been set a difficult task. Do you have any idea when John Brind married Elizabeth Smale? I notice there was a John Brind and Elizabeth marriage in 1871 and they had a son called Alfred John so that looks pretty hopeful (since names often run in families). But there were 30 or so equally possible John Brind marriages I know nothing about. It could be quite expensive to buy all the certificates. @:<{ Sorry about that.

I found an Alfred Mark in the English birth registry index who may have been born in 1908. His birth was registered in the first quarter of 1909. Of course there are quite a few Alfred Brinds so perhaps you are right and he was born in Canada. Having said that if he was born in Canada I'm afraid I have not got the Canadian birth entries so I can not help you. Oh dear. This isn't very positive.

However should you wish to search through my data yourself I'd be delighted to send you a cd containing everything I have. It's free and I'm sure you will find it interesting. It is easy to use since it is like a giant web site. All you have to do is click the links.

Anyway best wishes and it was interesting to hear from you.
