In the 1851 Census Ann Brind is still alive but a death for an Ann Brind appears in 1854 and in 1855 a marriage between a John Brind and a Jane Grice who appear in the 1861 Census. Not proof I know but in the 1851 Census Jane Grice Widow is their neighbour.Jennifer O'Sullivan July 2011

There are possible death entries for Richard Brind in Greenwich in 1844 and 1860. It may be that the 1860 one is the Richard above and the 1844 Richard is his grandfather born in Aldbourne in 1753. However this is a very long shot indeed since Richard of Aldbourne would have been 91 in 1844!

The link about Henrietta Brooks who married a Richard Brind is very confusing. Certainly Richard born 1834ish fits the bill but he married Eleanor Collings in 1859. I think it more likely that your suggestion that she was the second wife of Richard Brind born 1797/8 is probably the right one. The fact that they married just two months before she gave birth suggests that marriage may not have been Richard's original intention. His brother John who married Ann Winn, married a much younger woman after Ann's death, a Jane Grice half his age in 1855: so presumimg this is correct (which one should never do) Richard had a precedent.
