Kid's Pirate Days brings fun-filled online pirate programs to Ladysmith
|
The videos feature Inga Anderson from LaFF, beloved clown and balloon artist Twiggly Wiggly, the pirate crew of RBC led by their captain Allison Brind and some of Ladysmith's long-time community pirates.
"We thought it was fun last year but it was so much better this year," Brind said. "We practiced here numerous times before filming."

Marcus Brind, 17, the son of an English earl, made a fool of a Canadian constable in Spokane - at least for a while.

| Constable S.E. McCone of Nelson, British Columbia, was coming down on the boat on Kootenai Lake when he was advised that someone had burglarized some of the berths. Brind was the suspect. The constable tracked down Brind and arrested him in Spokane. Brind then tugged at McCone's heartstrings by telling the constable a "tearful tale" of misfortune. He had grown up in luxury but had since hit hard times.
"The papers the boy carried showed his father held a high commission in the English army, and I didn't like to put him in jail, especially because he cried and seemed like a homesick little chappie," McCone said.

Stratton House Hotel in Cirencester has opened its new £1m spa facility, The Spa in the Garden, after securing planning consent in 2019.

Eight new jobs, including a spa manager, therapists and a reception team, have been created following the completion of the 325 square metre facility – with further jobs to be added in the months ahead.
Therapy specialist Lucy Brind has been appointed by the hotel's owners to run the new spa.

The wholesaler, which saw revenues reach almost £400m for the financial year ending 30 April 2020, has evolved from only offering an ambient range of products when it was formed, with a single confectionery cash & carry in 1987, to now distributing chilled and frozen goods.
But the "watershed moment" for the company, says Young, came in 2011, when its growth strategy shifted to focus on mergers and acquisitions, overseen by then newly appointed FD David Brind.
