Johnston Press has said that the Olympics failed to provide the regional newspaper market with an advertising uplift, with revenues down almost 15% in the period including the London 2012 Games. Johnston - the second largest publisher of regional newspapers in the UK, with almost 250 titles - said that total advertising revenues were down 14.7% year-on-year in the six weeks since 30 June.
